THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING ~ 16-18 Nov
based on the novel by naomi klein. performed by east 15 ba physical theatre
Inspired by Naomi Klein’s earth shattering book ‘This Changes Everything’ this co-production between David Glass Ensemble and BA Physical Theatre explores the titanic struggle between Capitalism and Climate Change. Potentially the last great story of humanity. This first draft of this new ‘total’ theatre piece is being developed for a professionalized version in 2019. Created by Award winning International director David Glass ‘This Changes Everything ‘ promises to shock, awaken, celebrate and involve young performers in the most relevant story ever told.
‘David Glass remains one of the key figures of British Theatre – his unique physical style and surreal sense of story have inspired a whole generation of companies and performers who think with their whole bodies and beings. David’s parallel commitment to addressing some of the world’s most urgent issues also continues to inspire me and many others. ” ~ John McGrath, Artistic Director Manchester International Festival
KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTLE ~ 30 Nov-2 Dec
by francis beaumont. performed by east 15 ba acting & stage combat
In Francis Beaumont’s Jacobean satire, a production of a classical text is given a breath of fresh air when the audience blur the lines between traditional theatre and an interactive experience. This ground-breaking play-within-a-play sets the stage for a type of immersive theatre, long before the concept had been formulated and popularised.
The audience have paid for their tickets and they know what they want; why shouldn’t they express their opinions? Why shouldn’t they be allowed to take part? Why should they simply watch a play when they can experience a play?
CABARET ~ 7-9 Dec
written by ainslie masterton and stephen douse. performed by east 15 ba acting & community theatre
A firm favourite at Clifftown every December, this year will be no different! Previous Cabarets have taken us to underground Berlin clubs in the 1940s, anarchic Punk performances in the 1980s and back again to the flower power parties of the 1960s.
Where will this year take us…?
